HP sauce is a strong spicy English sauce that contains exotic fruits, spices and malt vinegar. The sauce contains e.g. date and tamarind fruit. Clearly inherited from Great Britain's colonial history. Malt wine vinegar makes the sauce brown and the texture rich. HP sauce brings out the flavor of the food being served, strengthening it, and the balance between salty, sour, sweet and bitter. Malt vinegar gives e.g. to food the so-called fifth taste – umami. HP sauce is suitable for all kinds of food and to be served cold with both cold and warm dishes. Fried eggs and bacon are a classic, but the sauce works just as well with french fries.
